Programs
Blackwood Street Early Learning provides six developmental based programs to ensure we create the perfect environment for your child to play, learn and grow.
Koalas
Children 6 weeks to 14 months
Room capacity – 8 children per day
The educators in the babies room take the time to settle children by getting to know the children and families. The children in the room have their individual sleeping and eating routines implemented, and we encourage all the families to share information about your child regularly so we can use the information in practice.

Joeys
Children 14 months to 2 years
Room capacity – 10 children per day
In the Joeys Room our main focus is for the children to feel safe, secure and supported in their environment.
We encourage children to be active and provide choices with play materials and experiences that help children make suitable choices. The children are involved in exploring the world around them, and the educators listen and respond to children’s efforts to communicate and participate.
Educators offer children learning opportunities that build on their interests and skills and build on the knowledge and skills children have developed in the family, home and community.

Wombats
Children 14 months to 2 years
Room capacity – 12 children per day
In the Wombats Room we encourage, nurture and promote an exciting environment that helps children grow and learn. We do this by being with the children, encouraging them and organising play spaces that give them space to spread out and be themselves.
We provide a range of play materials that are open-ended and can be used in a variety of ways. The children are engaged in role-play and we extend on their interests with resources and experiences to cater for their individual needs.
Parent participation is most welcome, and we encourage all parents to participate in any way they want to. This might be staying at the centre to engage with the child, bringing something in or adding to the child’s portfolio.

Busy Bees
Children 2 years to 3 years
Room Capacity – 15 children per day
In the Busy Bees room we offer the children a variety of experiences that challenge and support their developmental stages.
Our play experiences are based around the children’s interests and include art, construction, play dough, cooking, dramatic play and music and movement.
We focus on social development by facilitating and encouraging positive interactions with others through shared play and large group experiences. We endeavour to build and maintain strong bonds with every child.
Group times are part of our daily routine where we read our favourite stories, sing our favourite songs and incorporate early literacy and numeracy experiences into the curriculum.

Brumbies
(pre kindergarten)
Children 3 years to 4 years
Room Capacity – 22 children per day
In the Brumbies room we offer a holistic curriculum including language and literacy, numeracy, visual art, social, physical (including music and movement), construction and socio dramatic play experiences based around children’s current interests and strengths.
The children also participate in a daily show and share. This creates a sense of belonging about us and our families by discussing experiences that are meaningful and relevant to the children.
We are excited about our learning journey as we explore our environment and set us up as active, confident and happy learners preparing for school and life.

Kookaburras
Kindergarten Program
Children 4 years to 5 years
Room Capacity – 22 children per day
The Kookaburras implement an integrated curriculum that incorporates child-initiated, teacher-initiated and collaboratively planned experiences and is flexible to include spontaneous learning. The curriculum also includes opportunities for children to engage in various contexts for learning including: play, real life situations, investigations, routines and transitions and focused learning and teaching.
We ensure the physical environment and practices contain evidence of children’s and families’ cultures, communities and lives. We also include emergent literacy and numeracy foundations and practical preparation for school.
